Summary

Amber Valley Construction is a high-end residential remodeler specializing in luxury kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and additions. We’re looking for a part-time Markeing and Business Development Assistant to help grow our network of referral partners and keep Amber Valley top of mind with local professionals and influencers.

This is a relationship-building and execution role — perfect for someone who’s personable, proactive, detail-oriented, and enjoys connecting with people in person and online.

Core Responsibilities

1. Referral Partner Outreach

  • Identify and connect with local professionals who regularly influence or refer remodeling projects — designers, realtors, flooring suppliers, cabinet reps, architects, and high-end service providers.
  • Schedule and coordinate short intro meetings, drop-ins, or coffee visits for the owner or on behalf of the company.
  • Track and maintain a simple spreadsheet of outreach activity and follow-up dates.
  • Help organize small appreciation events, coffee mornings, or co-branded content opportunities with partners.

2. Relationship Maintenance

  • Regularly engage with partner businesses on social media — like, comment, and share relevant posts from their feeds.
  • Coordinate periodic “touches” (thank-you cards, treats, small gifts, handwritten notes).
  • Drop off branded gifts or seasonal packages (with permission) to top referral partners and potential new ones.
  • Capture quick photos or updates from these drop-ins for internal updates or social posting.

3. Local Brand Presence

  • Support photo/video capture of completed projects for marketing content (coordinate with photographer or staff).
  • Distribute or restock printed materials (brochures, cards, flyers) at partner offices or showrooms.
  • Assist in planning and executing occasional pop-up events, open houses, or community partnerships.
  • Monitor local home shows, realtor events, or design expos and help plan company participation.

4. Admin Support

  • Maintain a simple weekly activity report for the owner (who you met, what was dropped off, next steps).
  • Handle logistics for small marketing projects (printing, packaging, errands, deliveries).
  • Draft short social captions, thank-you posts, or spotlight features from partner activities.

Required Skills & Traits

  • Personable and professional — comfortable striking up friendly conversations with new people.
  • Organized and reliable — able to manage routes, follow-ups, and outreach tracking without supervision.
  • Social media fluent — knows how to engage authentically (commenting, tagging, sharing) without sounding salesy.
  • Driver’s license and reliable vehicle (local travel is a regular part of the job).
  • Dependable communicator — checks in daily or weekly with updates and next steps.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in marketing coordination, real estate, interior design, event planning, or sales support.
  • Experience in small business or local brand outreach roles.
  • Familiarity with the Grand Rapids / Lakeshore business community is a plus.

Performance Metrics

  • New referral partner connections made per month.
  • Number of meaningful partner “touches” or engagements (visits, comments, drop-offs).
  • Growth in inbound referral inquiries.
  • Consistency of weekly outreach and follow-up activity.

What Success Looks Like

In 90 days, you’ve developed active, ongoing relationships with 20+ referral partners in Grand Rapids and the Lakeshore area. These partners see Amber Valley as the go-to remodeler for luxury projects, and you’re consistently keeping us in their conversations, socials, and minds.

Business Development Assistant — Performance Incentive Plan

Incentives

1. Activity-Based Bonus (Monthly)

$100 bonus if all weekly activity targets are met for the month:

  • 10+ personal touches (drop-offs, meetups, handwritten notes, etc.)
  • 20+ social media interactions with referral partners
  • 5+ new potential partner introductions
  • 1+ in-person coffee/lunch/meeting

2. Referral Lead Bonus

$25 per qualified referral lead (someone who meets Amber Valley’s project criteria and schedules a consult).

3. Booked Project Bonus

  • $150 bonus for each booked project originating from a new referral partner’s lead.
  • $50 bonus for repeat referral projects from the same partner (to encourage ongoing relationship maintenance).

4. Quarterly Growth Bonus (Optional)

  • $500 quarterly bonus if new referral sources (not past clients) account for ≥$100k in booked work over the quarter.

Key Rules

  • All referral sources must be logged and verified as the origin of the lead.
  • Bonuses are paid monthly, after confirmation that the lead or project meets qualification criteria.
