Position Purpose: The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for furthering the mission and strategic efforts of the university, as a distinctly Lutheran Christian University of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, through Christ-centered excellence in marketing and communication. This includes building, leading, and supporting a team of professionals responsible for assessing, developing, and implementing the overall marketing strategy for the University and has the primary goals of:

a) ensuring a strong, growing, and compelling brand identity grounded in our distinctly Lutheran and Christian mission and ministry, and emphasizing differentiation over competition.

b) developing and implementing strategic marketing and communication initiatives that contribute to accomplishing the university's strategic plan. c) maximizing the success of undergraduate recruitment in the support of a developing curation approach to undergraduate enrollment,

d) ensuring a compelling and effective brand and lead generation strategy that supports graduate enrollment growth, and that prioritizes reaching and serving those who desire a distinctly Christian graduate program experience,

e) maximizing the success of the university's development and alumni relations goals through marketing and communications, f) ensuring mission alignment and Christ-centered excellence in all external media & publications,

g) and ensuring fidelity to the mission and Lutheran Christian identity of the university while overseeing public & community relations, in partnership with the Office of the President, advancement, admissions, and other offices as needed.

This position will also assist the COO in strategic planning efforts related to marketing and market research. Must be 19 years of age to apply. This is a full-time position with a full-time benefits package. Responsibilities:

  • Maximizes outreach, influence and support among external audiences within the framework of CUNE's mission, values and strategic plan.

  • Leads and manages the staff of the marketing and communication team to effectively integrate marketing efforts across campus.

  • Collaborates with all campus departments to ensure consistent marketing goals and the effective use of planning, data and evaluation to maximize results.

  • Plans, develops, oversees and assesses the implementation of comprehensive, organization-wide goals for marketing the university, including:

  • Profiles existing and potential customers, their needs and the strategies to meet those needs.

  • Creates & executes a marketing strategy that gathers and uses data to make decisions and drive results.

  • Directs digital efforts to focus the university's website and digital platforms as communication, relationship building and recruitment tools.

  • Develops messages appropriate to students, parents, influencers, donors, volunteers, friends and constituents.

  • Oversees budgeting, staff, production and distribution of all integrated marketing activities.

  • Assures information for all production materials and CUNE website are current and accurate.

  • Researches and implements technology and new media tools to improve results.

  • Analyzes and reports ROI for marketing efforts to senior leadership.

5. Gives leadership and counsel to the COO & President in refining and communicating Concordia's brand and messaging. 6. Oversees the development, delivery and analysis of market research to identify promotional opportunities, product enhancements and pricing strategies aligned with market demand. 7. In coordination with the recruitment team, develops integrations with digital assets to coordinate effective tracking, ROI analysis and user-focused promotional efforts. 8. Oversees preparation and delivery of the university emergency communication plan. 9. Oversees preparation and delivery of the university's media communication plan. 10. Working with the senior leadership team, coordinates internal communication and messaging. 11. Serves as the campus public relations spokesperson as necessary in consultation with university administration and/or the Critical Incident Management Team. 12. Ensures a quality Broadcaster publication and assist in other team assignments as necessary. 13. Supports university leaders in effective internal and external messaging regarding strategic planning and other high-priority projects. 14. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education-

  • Bachelor's degree in communication or marketing field required; masters degree preferred.

Experience-

  • At least five years of experience in marketing or communications related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years in managing and leading a team.
  • Experience Managing/leading Project Management tools and processes
  • Experience with editing and writing for print publications.
  • Higher Education experience desirable.
  • Experience with and/or commitment to marketing and communication for a distinctly Christian organization, with demonstrated ability to faithfully represent the distinctives of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod school.
  • Active membership in a LCMS church or another Christian church that is shaped and informed by the inerrant, inspired, infallible Word of God; and faithfully teaches salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

Specialized Knowledge-

  • Broad knowledge of research design, data collection and research analysis and the relationship to higher education and marketing.

Proficiencies-

  • Proficiency in the use of software applications including, Microsoft applications, databases, spreadsheets and word processing required.
